Ways to set up the room
Four setups that cover nearly every night, from a laptop on the coffee table to a bar with two TVs. Find the one closest to what you have.
1. Just a laptop
A few friends at home. The laptop is the singer screen, turned to face the singers, and your phone runs the line.
- A laptop, with its volume most of the way up
- A karaoke mixer with two wireless mics (about $90), and any speaker
- Your phone, for the desk
2. A laptop and a TV
The most reliable home setup. The TV is the singer screen; the laptop keeps the desk on its own screen, so you need nothing else in your hand.
- A laptop and an HDMI cable. Set the screens to Extend, not Duplicate.
- A karaoke mixer with two wireless mics, and a speaker. Mute the TV, so the sound only comes one way.
3. Just a smart TV
No laptop and no cables to the TV: the TV's own browser is the singer screen, and your phone is the desk. It depends on how good the TV's browser is, so try it before the night.
- A smart TV with a web browser. Open singaroo.com/tv on it and type its code on the desk's Set up screens.
- A karaoke mixer with two wireless mics. With no mics, the TV's own speakers will do.
4. A bar or a venue
Two screens: the singer screen faces the stage, and the room screen faces the crowd with who is up next and the join code. The sound goes into the venue's mixer.
- A laptop for the desk, with an HDMI cable to the stage TV (set to Extend)
- A second TV with a browser for the room screen (Room screen on the desk, or pair the TV at /tv)
- A cable from the laptop into the venue's mixer. A phone running the desk from its QR lets you walk the room.
